The advantages of radar technology over ultrasonic technology

Radar sensors offer advantages over ultrasonic measuring instruments because they are capable of measuring independently of temperature fluctuations, the presence of a vacuum, high pressures or high impurities.

In particular, the 80 GHz radar sensors are distinguished by their ability to excellently focus the signal, allowing a better distinction between the actual measurement signal and the noise signals. As a result, the measurement is simpler and more accurate.

The VEGAPULS range of level sensors

  • The radar sensor VEGAPULS C 11 is equipped with an integrated cable and is designed for continuous measurement of liquid level. 

This instrument is considered the ideal sensor for non-contact level measurement in simple applications where high protection is required. It is particularly suitable for use in water treatment plants, pumping stations, rainwater overflow basins and for height monitoring. For large solids, sensors are used in small silos for open materials or containers;

  • The sensor VEGAPULS C 21 is equipped with an integrated cable and is designed for continuous measurement of liquid level. This instrument guarantees precise measurement results, regardless of product type and environmental and process conditions. 

Thanks to the 80 GHz contactless radar technology, it offers maintenance-free operation, as well as additional accuracy and reliability.

  • VEGAPULS 22 is a radar sensor with integrated cable designed for continuous measurement of liquid level. It has a side cable output and offers a measuring range of up to 15 meters with an accuracy of about 2 millimeters

It is equipped with 4…20 mA output, HART, SDI-12 or Modbus, and also has an Ex approval. Thanks to the 80 GHz non-contact radar technology, the sensor works maintenance-free.

  • VEGAPULS C 23 is a sensor with integrated cable designed for continuous measurement of liquid level. It is widely used for standard measurement tasks and finds application in contactless level measurement in simple contexts requiring a high degree of protection. 

The instrument is particularly suitable for use in water treatment plants, pumping stations, flow measurement in open channels and height monitoring. For larger solids, sensors are used in medium-sized silos for bulk materials, segmented tanks or open deposits.
