Imerys Talc Italy, belonging to the Performance Additives Division of Imerys, extracts, processes and supplies lamellar talc, meeting all current needs of the market. Talc is mined in an underground mine located in the Germanasca Valley, 60 kn SW from Turin.
Talc mining in this area was first mentioned in official documents in 17th century. The mineral is processed in the Malanaggio plant (Porte – TO).
The mine produces a very pure, white and highly lamellar talc. 60% of the production is for export. Talc main markets are cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paints, food, ceramics and paper.
Imerys Talc Italy mine and plant are certified according to UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015. The ISO 22000 certification is underway. The Malanaggio milling plant obtained in 2004 the compliance with the GMP guidelines for the products used in the pharmaceutical industry.
