The ESG index is an indicator or measure used to evaluate the performance of a company or investment based on considerations related to the environment, social issues and corporate governance. The goal of ESG is to evaluate a company's sustainability and responsibility in these three areas.
Environment
The Environment sub-index is composed of air pollution and climate change measures (greenhouse gas emissions and trends), but also biodiversity and ecosystem health indicators.

Welfare
The last sub-index, Health & Safety, is composed of health indicators (such as life expectancy, access to drinking water) and safety indicators (safety at work, social protection). An adjustment for spatial inequality (urban / rural) is also considered.
