Stogit is a subsidiary of Snam operating in the storage of natural gas, a strategic activity which contributes to strengthening continuity of gas supply to Italy’s energy system.
With 9 storage fields, Stogit is the largest operator in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.
In 2018 Stogit made available a working gas capacity of 12.35 billion cm, as well as additional 4.5 billion cm of strategic reserves, while the volume of gas moved in 2017 amounted to about 19.92 billion cm.
On the basis of its Storage Code, the Company provides to 90 operators its services of modulation (Uniform, Uniform Multiyears, Peak and Fast Cycle), strategic storage, transport balancing and mining storage.
Stogit reuses depleted natural gas fields located at a depth of 1,000-1,700 metres, without altering the natural conditions of the areas it operates in and giving priority to environmental protection.
This way, natural gas can be safely stored in the same conditions in which nature preserved it for millions of years. Since 2002 the Company is UNI EN ISO 14001 certified with relation to environmental safeguard and, from 2012, OHSAS 18001 for safety and health; since 2008, is also ISO 9001 certified on the provision of “Natural Gas Metering Services”.
